Sympathy Card with Metallic Textures Rub-Ons

Do you ever look at a card and think, wow, that’s a lot of layers and paper used to make that card? Me too! But if you take a closer look you might be surprised to see that’s not always true.

So, let’s de-construct this multi-layer sympathy card.

I started with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 piece of Secret Sea cardstock. Next is a piece of the new Lunar Lustre Specialty paper. This paper has a sleek, silvery, galvanized metallic finish on both sides. I used a Stylish Shape die to die cut the the center of this paper BRFORE attaching it to my card base. This technique is a great way to get the most of your cardstock or designer series papers if that area will be covered by another piece of paper. I rummaged through My Peaceful Garden Designer Series and found a piece close to the size I wanted and trimmed to 2 x 4-1/2. The Basic White cardstock for my greeting is also a scrap.

I stamped my greeting with Secret Sea ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used the 2-3/8 circle punch and popped it out slight off-center. Next, I used the Metallic Textures Rub-Ons to the left side of my greeting. These rub-ons are an easy way to dress up your projects without adding bulk or weight. Just snip out the desired design, remove the backing, place on your paper and rub with a bone folder to have instant embellishments. Think heat emboss without heat embossing. Say what??? I know!
