Think Outside the Sheet: A Clever Way to Stretch Your Designer Series Paper

I’m thrilled to share a pair of gorgeous cards that feature a fun, alternative way to look at your patterned paper. We all love beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP), but sometimes we get stuck just using it only as a background. Instead of using a standard flat layer, I utilized a fantastic technique to get more mileage out of your Designer Paper stash – fussy cutting the floral patterns directly from the paper to create custom, dimensional embellishments and focal points.

By cutting the flowers out from the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper, you can easily stretch a single sheet of paper into dozens of gorgeous accents. It gives you total control over your layout and maximizes every single inch of your favorite pattern paper.

I leaned into a soft and elegant color palette for these cards. A sweet combination of Bubble Bath, Gray Granite and Basic White cardstock provide a crisp, clean frame. A bold, black and white polka dot print from the Artisan Sketched Garden DSP creates a great contrast against the Bubble Bath. The gorgeous blooms from the Artisan Sketched Garden DSP were colored using Bubble Bath and Smoky Slate Blends alcohol markers and the fussy cut to cluster together. I stamped the sentiment from the Scalloped Blooms stamp set and punched it out using the 1-3/4″ circle punch. My accent was adding Gray Granite Variegated Trim.
