Heat Embossing with Textured Notes
I recently held a Heat Embossing Class that focused on different heat embossing techniques and a refresher on heat embossing basics. This card uses products from the Botanical Textures Suite Collection – the Textured Notes stamp set and the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper. The greetings are from the More Messages Bundle.
This was a fun card featuring two different heat embossing techniques – heat embossing on Designer Series Paper and mixing embossing powers. Say what??? Yelp, I took a spoon each of white, black, gold, silver and copper embossing powers, put them into a container with a lid, shook it up to mix the powers and created a one of a kind heat embossing experience.
The unique thing about mixing embossing powders is that no two images will be the same! I loved this look so much, I wanted to do something on the inside card panel, so I added two strips of Tear & Tape, removed the backing, applied my "mixed-up" embossing powers and heat set. So, yes, you can add embossing power using Tear & Tape – who knew!
Here's some of my heat embossing tips-
- An embossing buddy is your best friend. Make sure to use on cardstock or designer series paper BEFORE stamping
- Let your heat tool warm up and get hot before using it
- Heat emboss with good lighting – good lighting helps to see the embossing powder change from dull to shiny
- Use a small tip paint brush to help remove stray powder
- Let your embossing cool before attaching to your project or die-cutting, etc.
Pull out your embossing powers, VersaMark ink pad and heat tool to immerse yourself in the joy of heat embossing!
All of the Stampin Up! supplies used for this project are available in my online store
